Erin Maher is a Senior Legal and Policy Officer at Rights Watch (UK). Most recently Erin worked as a teaching assistant at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, and as external Special Assistant to the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment of Punishment.
Prior to that, Erin worked as an international law advisor to the Australian Government at the Attorney-General’s Department, in areas including international human rights and refugee law, in international litigation, and as the Executive Advisor to the head of the Office of International Law.
She holds an LL.M. in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (summa cum laude) from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honors First Class) and a Bachelor of International Studies from the Flinders University of South Australia.
